Kollam church
Quilon (Kollam), still a big town, almost the second capital of the Travancore State, is one of the most ancient Episcopal Sees in India. It was erected by Pope John XXII in 1330. The Church built by St. Thomas in Kollam, one of the great Catholic centre’s of India (in later stage), is believed to have existed for upwards of a thousand years, when it was swept away by the sea

" St.Thomas was able to convert the greater part of the village after a successful challenge with the Brahmins. The local temple deserted by the Brahmins as a part of St. Thomas's efforts, was turned into forming a Church.
